In accordance with the "TSU Guidelines and Procedures for Conferring Affiliate Faculty Status" (Faculty Handbook, 3-29 and 3-30), I am conveying the recommendation to you, accompanied by my own strong recommendation that you grant Affiliate Professor status in Women's Studies to Dr. Vanfossen. The close bond between the Women's Studies Program and the Institute for Teaching and Research on Women makes it natural that Dr. Vanfossen should hold Affiliate Professor status in the program. As you know, she has already been granted Affiliate Professor status in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology {sociology is the field in which she has her doctorate). The recommendation for affiliate status expresses strongly the respect in which Dr. Vanfossen is held by her colleagues in Sociology/Anthropology and in Women's Studies.
