Towson State University College of Liberal Arts Date: October 22, 1991 To: Elaine Hedges From: Annette Chappel, Dean, College of Liberal Arts Subject: affiliate faculty status The Department of Sociology and Anthropology has recently recommended Affiliate Professor status for Beth Vanfossen and Gordon Bonham. These will be the first affiliate faculty designations at TSU. I think affiliate faculty status would be a very useful status for Women's Studies -- those faculty members who are active in Women's Studies but in ways not appropriate for joint appointments could be designated as affiliate faculty. (Of course, I would also like to see Women's Studies make Beth an Affiliate Professor.) The guidelines appear in the Faculty Handbook (pages 3-29 and 3-30) as "TSU Guidelines and Procedures for Conferring Affiliate Faculty Status." If you have any questions about them, I'll be glad to discuss them with you.
