May 2, 1967 SGA Executive Committee meeting minutes

TOWSON STATE COLLEGE STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MINUTES, MAY 2, 1967 The meeting was called to order at 3:30 p.m. by President Alan Diem. The committee decided upon the following possibilities for an advisor for next year: Mr. Slowinski, Dr. Joseph Cox, Mr. George Cox, Mr. Grossman, Miss Sweed and Dr. Merani. Miss Georgulas, Miss Herminau and Mr. Diem attended a meeting with Dr. Gillespie and the Glen Players treasurer for next year. Dr. Gillespie was up- set by the fact that the budget had to be so minutely itemized. Miss Georgulas suggested giving Glen Players their percentage of the budget for four plays and then have the group itemize their budget after each play. The Glen Players wanted to use their receipts in whatever matter they saw fit. This is all right as long as the Glen Players give us a record of their receipts. The Executive Comittee was basically in favor of this new procedure for the Glen Players. Mr. Herbert reported on the April 28-29 convention of the Maryland Associa- tion of College Student Governments. The assembly discussed lowering the voting age and was in favor of this. The assembly also was in favor of a student discount program sponsored by the VISA Company. A leadership conference for student government officers is also being planned. Mr. Herbert was appointed chairman of a committee to look into available workshops. A newsletter was also set up. A $25 fee will be levied against each student government associa- tion every year. The chair was relinquished to Mr. Norwood. Mr. Norwood announced that corresponding and recording secretaries running for class of '68 will be dicided in a run-off election since there was a spelling error on the ballot. The polls will be open until 5 p.m. for the benefit of student teachers. The SGA constitution specifies that elections be held on the second day of the week. Miss Herminau reminded the 1966-67 Executive Committee of the dinner on May 10. Miss Georgulas would like the Committee to give her the money for the dinner before next Wednesday, May 10.
