STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION Towson State University Towson, Maryland 21204 (301) 321-2711 MINUTES STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION BUDGET HEARINGS May 1, 1984 The Student Government Association Budget Hearings were called to order at 5:00. Senator Walsh moved to excuse Senator Kushner-seconded. Senator Kushner was excused. Senator Goldsmith moved to excuse herself early-seconded. Senator Goldsmith was excused. Senator Oppenheimer n10ved to excuse herself early-seconded. Senator Oppenheimer was excused. The budgets considered on May 1 were: Black Student Union, Model Organization of American States, American Marketing Association, Jewish Students Association, Forensics Union, WCVT and Geography Club. The first budget considered was the Black Student Union. Senator Mister moved to consider the Black Student Union budget-seconded. Treasurer Cohn explained the FAB recommendation. A representative from the Black Student Union was recognized to explain their budget request. Senator Slowey moved to divide the question-seconded. The Activity accolfilt was considered. Senator Mister moved to allocate $600.00 to the Activity accoIB1t-seconded. Tb.e Senate debated. The vote to allocate $6on.oo the Activity account was 2-9-2. The motion failed. The Senate went back in debate. Senator Dinkin moved to allocate $2,675.00 to the Activity account-seconded. The Senate debated. Senator Hyatt moved to previous question-seconded. The vote to allocate $2,675.00 to the Activity accot:nt was 5-7-1. The motion failed. The Senate went back in debate. Senator Hyatt moved to allocate $1,250.00 to the Activity account-seconded. The vote to allocate $1) 250.00 to the Activity account was 10-3-0. The motion passed. Senator Mister moved to accept the FAB recommendation of $50.00 for the Supplies acco1.mt-seconded. The Senate debated. Senator Heacock moved to previous question-seconded. TI1e vote to allocate $50. 00 to the Supplies accotmt was 12-0-1. The motion passed. Senator Sebula moved to accept the FAB recorrnnendation of $19.00 for the Technical Services account-seconded. Senator Mister moved to previous question-seconded. The vote to allocate $19.00 to the Technical Services account was unanimous. The motion passed. Senator Hyatt moved to accept the FAB recommendation of $270.00 for the Printing account with the stipulation t'lat the first newsletter be at the Printing Center by October 15 and the second by November 15-seconded. Senator Mister moved to amend Senator Hyatt's motion by allocating $150.00 to the Printing account with the stipulation. There was no second. The Senate went back in debate on the original motion.
