March 22, 1966 SGA Senate meeting minutes

TOWSON STATE COLLEGE STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION SENATE MINUTES 3/22/66 The meeting was called to order at 3:35 p.m. by President Neal Brooks in Lecture hall. ANNOUNCEMENTS 1. Parliamentarian-Miss Lombardo announced the posting of the French Club and YAF Constitutions. 2. Sophomore Class-Miss Rohde announced the Sophomore Dance to be held Saturday, April 2 at the Alcazar. Tickets will be $2.00 and Tommy Van and the Echoes will be the band. 3. President-Mr. Brooks announced that the Baltimore Association for Crippled Children and Adults would like volunteers to collect donations in Towson Plaza on April 2. He also announced that student teachers will be re-embursed for lunches missed. The amount has not been decided. It was announced that the Debate Team has won a first place. The following came from the Long Range Planning Committee: the Snack Bar will be in operation until June; renovation will begin on either Stephens Hall or Newell Hall; the $5 million budget for the Student Union has passed one hose of the legislature; temporary classroom building will be placed on the gym blacktop for next fall; there will be a meeting at which president Hawkins will discuss the changes. 4. Social Chairman-Miss Winkler announced that the Student Government Association will receive a check for $250 from Mr. Ehringer as re-embursement for the Drifters' Concert. 5. NSA-Miss Walker announced that March 28-April 1 is WUS Week and the events are listed. All students are urged to participate. 6. Vice President-Mr. Wilson announced that the amendments to the SGA Constitution will be ready at the next Senate meeting. he also urged all Senators to attend the meeting for campaign speeches on March 24 at 3:30 in Lecture Hall. OLD BUSINESS 1. WRC Amendments-Miss Morriscon moved that the Senate accept the amendments to the WRC Constitution. It was seconded and passed. 2. College Band Constitution-Miss Lombardo moved to take the College band Constitution from the table. it was seconded and passed. The question of membership was cleared up; the College Band is not the same as the Concert Band. The main motion to accept the Constitution was passed. NEW BUSINESS 1. Talisman Request-Miss Hubble moved that the Senate allocate $1,100 to Talisman for the printing of the Spring Edition. It was seconded and passed. 2. IRC Request-Mr. Rausch moved that the Senate allocate $20 to the IRC for dies. it was seconded and passed. 3. IRC Request-Mr. Rausch moved that the Senate allocate $58 to IRC for a speaker. It was seconded and defeated. The chair was given to Mr. Wilson. 4. SGA Executive Request-Mr. brooks moved that teh Senate allocate $10,000 for a cultural events program for 1966-67. It was seconded
