Letter from the Students for Black Awareness, 1969

September 26, 1969 To the president, Deans and Administrators of Towson State College Sirs: It is the consensus of the Students for Black Awareness that it remain an autonomous organization, beyond the jurisdiction of the Student Government Association. The problems we face are peculiar to the black community. They cannot be resolved within the framework of the existing S.G.A. without our submittion to undue delays and demands. We as members of a group relate to each other as a family; if we are to function successfully, we must function as such- without outside interference. Since we cannot and, in fact, do not wish to operate within the framework of the S.G.A., we ask that we be considered an independent body and request that our activity fees be refunded.
