If you wish, I can send that to you also.] TO: Women's Studies Committee FROM: Sara Coulter SUBJECT: 1) Grant Information 2) Meeting: Friday, April 28, 3 p.m., LI 202 Enclosed are the following items of grant information: 1) The description from the NEH Handbook of their Education grants. We applied and were refused for a "Planning and Development" grant (if you need copies of our proposal, please let me know). We plan to revise our proposal and reapply for a "Project" grant. I have written Janet Berls of the "Project" division of NEH for advice on how to revise our original proposal and await her reply. Another visit to the NEH office in Washington would probably advisable before sending our final draft. 2) Title I: a proposal from the Women's Center will probably be made for a Title I grant since community service is a key here. Our Committee, however, could participate in the effort and might devise a Woman's Studies angle. We have a reasonably good chance to receive one of these if we have a good proposal. Cam Stivers, who has worked with Title I for some time, advises personal delivery of the proposal to the Washington office with some high Administration official--Dean Shaw has agreed to go. 3) S & H Lectureships: Many small grants little known colleges so we might have a good chance. Could be useful for a special project. 4) Advice from UM Handbook, especially good on indifference of foundations to individual institutions. 5) Esso Education FoundationL one of the few corporate foundations that has programs relavant to us. Meeting on Friday: Bill Brown of Federal and Foundation Programs will come to review the grant situation and to report on a week in New York meeting with corporate foundation people. A specific agenda for this meeting will follow tomorrow.
