Lombard Street Baltimore, MD 21224 Dear Ms. Gorsuch: Dr. Margaret Faulkner has informed me that one of our Women's Studies Majors, Elizabeth Bartholomew, has been granted a $1600.00 scholarship by your organization, Women on the Rise. Another of our Women's Studies Majors, Caroline Garfink, was a recipient a while ago (last year or the year before), and I understand that another Towson student, Shannon Loy, a Music Education major, also received the scholarship this year. This is a good opportunity for me to thank you and all of the women in Women on the Rise. Your generosity is remarkable and your scholarship program for lesbian students is a strong addition to the network of support for women which the Baltimore area feminist community has developed and nurtured over the years. The selection of Elizabeth Bartholomew was a wise choice, for so many reasons. Elizabeth is many things: a good student, a talented writer, a committed feminist, a struggling single parent, a campus activist of ingenuity and fortitude— an inspiration to other students, as well as to faculty. Thank you for acknowledging her many fine qualities and making her years at Towson State a little easier.
