I will ask that this proposal be placed on the agenda for the June 8 meeting of the Chancellor's Academic Affairs Advisory Council. The proposed program in Women's Studies was developed within our Women's Studies Program, one of the strongest and most highly visible programs of its kind in the nation. The success of the undergraduate certificate program in Women's Studies offered on this campus is evidence of the demand for this rapidly growing, interdisciplinary field of study. An important feature of the proposed program is that no new resources will be required. Those already allocated to the Women's Studies certificate program will be sufficient. The curriculum has been developed from current course offerings, with the addition of one capstone course. The current faculty resources will provide sufficient flexibility to meet the curricular and advising requisites of the major.
