LtrthoyJ ED?/ je 15 Sep 48 SUBJECT: Bequest for Records Concerning Kurt UKDd« TO : Office of Chief of Counsel for War Crimes, , APO 696-A, US Army, Attn: Director, Special Projects Division* 1* The Darmstadt Camp Spruchkammer has received comprehensive documents and reports relating to the former SS St urmbannf uehre r Kurt LINDOW, bom 16 Feb 1903, an internee of this enclosure, and formerly the subject of an investigation conducted by the Evidence Division of your office* 20 The material is instructive and of considerable value to the denazification prosecutor since it clearly reveals LINDOWB former official duties and functions within the RSHA and the SS* It is noted, however, that reference is made to evidence by certain interrogators (Messrs* BARR, Erik J. ORTHMANN, WARTENBERG) which would be of inestim¬ able value* The prosecutor anticipates that the defense will not admit to several incriminations which were established at the interrogations especially since the material does not include signed and sworn state¬ ments by LINDOW. 3* As an example, in Interrogation 595-D conducted on 18 July 1947, Mr* WARTKBBERG refers to a certain Document 3151 and then numbered UdSSR 128, I42, 144, etc** The denazification public prosecutor is of the opinion that such evidence is necessary to convince the trial tribunal of the full guilt of the respondent* 4* Request, therefore, that any further evidence, including signed statements which incriminate Kurt LINDOW be forwarded to this office* EUGENE L WETLAND US DA CIV
