Dear Mr. Field: We have seen the discussion in the press concerning the proposed arrangement whereby the pupil-teachers now studying at the Training School in Baltimore City would be trained in the State Normal School at Towson, and we notice among other points under discussion that the question of car service and car fares have been commented upon. We desire to say to you that the United Railways will co-operate to the fullest extent in furnishing adequate and satisfactory service to the Normal School at Towson, and we will be prepared, in case the plans are consummated, to out in such service as may be necessary to care for this riding both in the morning and in the afternoon. At the present time there is in effect a commutation ticket which enables persons to ride from Towson to any part of our City system in Baltimore for 4 1/2 cents, in the County zone, coupled with 7 1/2 cents in the City. - a total of twelve cents each way. In view of the recent order of the Public Service Commission, directing that a five-cent ticket for school children be put into use, and in view of the fact that pupils at the Normal School are in training for public service in our City and State schools, we will extend the use of this ticket to bona-fide pupils in the Normal School at Towson, which will enable them to ride from Baltimore City to Towson for ten cents. These tickets are not available for use with commutation tickets. The details for the sale and distribution of these school tickets, in case the proposed plan for training City pupils at Towson is adopted, can be arranged with us at your convenience.
