January 3, 1967 SGA Executive Committee meeting minutes

TOWSON STATE COLLEGE STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING 1/3/67 The meeting was called to order at 3:00 P.M. by President Alan Diem in the S.G.A. office. 1. Mr. Diem announced that the YM-YMCA-Student Assembly conference was successful. Among the topics of discussion were urbanization, civil rights, and city planning.Mr. Chen, Jane Lucky and Alan Diem attended. 2. Mr. Diem will attend a meeting at Baltimore Junior College on Saturday, January 7th, to discuss the possibilities of a "College Town Meeting on the Air" on WBAL. 3. Miss Berlett announced that the time for Sweetheart Week- end will be "The Sweetheart Tree." There will be a meeting of all committee chairmen Thursday, January 5th, at 3:30 P.M., with meet- ings periodically thereafter. 4. Mr. Norwood will be handling the Sweetheart elections. 5. Mr. Norwood is still working with the mailbox committee and will offer his committee's recommendations to President Hawkins. 6. Notes will be sent to Richard Miller and Tom McDade inform- ing them that their reports are due at the January meeting of Student Life. 7. Mr. Diem suggested that Miss Berlett attend the Booking Convention, February 1-4th. 8. Miss Miskelly explained parts of the S.G.A. constitution which is now in the process of being revised to provide for a re- organization of Senate. Some significant changes would include the following: 1. Full time graduate students enrolled at Towson would be members of S.G.A 2. The S.G.A. President would have a vote and could initiate and speak on legislation. 3. A Chairman of the Senate, no longer the S.G.A. President, will be elected from the Sentate and will preside at Senate meetings. Further discussions will decide percentages vs. the use of numbers. 9. A representative from a Rochester, New York ring company showed the committee a possible design for a new T.S.C. ring. The committee made some suggestions as to it's design and size.
