INTEGRATING THE SCHOLARSHIP ON WOMEN INTO THE CURRICULUM OF COMMUNITY COLLEGES TOWSON STATE UNIVERSITY TOWSON, MD PROGRAM COMPONENTS This is a two^yeaj^ project begun in 1988 and scheduled for completion in 1990, to integrate the scholarship on women into selected courses in five community colleges*-! the Baltimore-Washington area, using resources developed in a Towson UnivetsxfyJProject funded by the Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education. Although its focus is on curriculum integration at the community college level, the model it offers for bringing representatives of different schools in a geographic area together in a curriculum integration program, may be applicable to secondary education. Forty five faculty from five campuses meet in workshops divided according to curriculum area: English and Composition, History and Philosophy, Biology and Allied Health, Social Sciences and Fine Arts. Over two semesters, faculty read and analyze the scholarhip on multicultural women in their discipline, revise courses, and test and evaluate the new courses in the classroom. A Summer Institute and final presentation at a statewide meeting of community college faculty supplement the workshops.
