- Description
- A small Imari ware porcelain saucer. Its design is very traditional. The center has a small medallion featuring a landscape scene, that is framed by a small white ring. The middle ring has a blue scroll or wave-like motif on a white background. The large, outer or border ring contains eight small medallions, each with a different motif, surrounded by a background of three different, alternating floral and geometric motifs. The main colors are iron red, turquoise, and blue, with gold and yellow detailing, all done as underglaze decoration. It is irregularly shaped; it is not a perfect circle. The underside is white and has cloud-like motifs in blue underglaze decoration. There is a series of four Japanese characters on the base that probably refer to the factory.
