February 8, 1968 SGA Executive Committee meeting minutes

TOWSON STATE COLLEGE STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MINUTES FEBRUARY 8, 1968 The meeting was called to order at 4:10 p.m. by acting chairman Mr. Herbert. 1. Mr. Herbert announced that Sweetheart elections drew over 10% of the stu- dent body. For the first time elections have been transferred to the Student Center. The run-off election is to determine the Sweetheart Couple. 2. a. Miss Miskelly announced that we have 950 signatures for the constitutional amendment. We need about 1,100. Miss Miskelly requested that everyone try to get signatures. b. Miss Miskelly also announced that there are quite a few clubs in violation of many policies. According to the constitution those organizations should be sus- pended or stricken. Miss Miskelly and Mr. Barkley will work together on this. 3. Mr. Barkley announced that we are consistently losing money in the student loan program and consideration should be given to scrapping this program. The executive committee was mainly in favor of keeping this service program. 4. Miss Berlett announced that things are coming along well with the Sweet- heart Dance and thanked those who have helped. Miss Berlett also announced that she will be needing more help in the future. 5. Mr. Hollywood announced that use of bulletin boards is decreasing. Only 12 ogranizations out of 40 use their bulletin boards. Publicity in Stephens n longer is adequate and space must be found in more popular places such as Linthicum Hall, Smith Hall and the College Centre. 6. a. Miss Cox announced that March 4-8 is WGS Week. She asked that the Committee please check the note board for notices. Miss Cox announced that certain things will be moved to the afternoons from the evenings so that commuters may participate. b. Miss Cox also announced that she had gotten a newsletter from NSA announcing that NSA has published certain leaflets concerning NSA. Miss Cox will order about 20 copies of each leaflet. There are also travel items available. Miss Rohde brought up the fact that a resolution was passed last year in Senate to stop paying NSA dues until an investigation had taken place. Mr. Herbert announced that he went to a conference on NSA and was in favor of staying in the organization because of the programs they offer. Consideration has been given to joining ASO. Mr. Herbert announced that a library will be started in the SGA president's office. 7. a. Miss Rohde announced that she received a letter from Belair Fresh Air Camp asking whether or not we will be using the camp next year. Jolly Acres also invited us back. b. Miss Rohde is waiting to hear from IEE. The two girls who are foreign exchange students are not interested in returning to Towson. Ronald would like to return. Lee is not interested in coming back. 8. Mr. Cullison announced that he has been working on letters; one to Dean Falco concerning evaluation committees stating that students are available to work on these committees. Mr. Cullison also wrote a personal letter to Gov. Agnew
