February 13, 1968 SGA Senate meeting minutes

TOWSON STATE COLLEGE STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION SENATE MINUTES, FEBRUARY 13, 1968 The meeting was called to order by Acting Chairman, Miss Miskelly at 3:40 p.m. in Linthucum 200. ANNOUNCEMENTS: 1. a. Miss Miskelly announced that Mr. Herbert is teaching and Mr. Cullison is taking a course at this time. She also announced that Li 200 will be the room for the Senate meeting for the rest of the semester. b. Mr. Cullison requested that Mis Miskelly request that people volunteer for SGA committees. If you are interested, please leave a note in Mr. Cullison's mailbox. c. The Justice department has requested that NSA drop its case against General Hershey. d. Student Life will meet this Thursday at 3:30 in Tem. 23H. 2. Miss Miskelly announced that we have over 940 signatures for the constitutional amendment. Probably next week we will be able to announce a constitutional convention. 3. Miss Miskelly announced that the constitution of the Karate Club will be posted and voted upon at the next Senate meeting. Miss Miskelly requested that all members of the Senate read this constitution. 4. Miss Berlett announced that plans are going well for the use of the new gym for social activities. It should also be easier to get chaperones for the new gym. Miss Berlett requested that everyone take care of this facility. Also, the Sweetheart Dance wil be held this Saturday from 9 to 1 at the Fifth Regiment Armory and a ticket and ID card will be necessary for admittange. This year there will be no tipping at the dance for refreshments. Kiwanis Club is handling parking free but a voluntary contribution may be made to this club. This Saturday we will need help at the Armory. Also the heart in the SGA office must be stuffed. 5. Miss Gregory announced that all organizations will be receiving appointments for organizational pictures for the yearbook to be taken February 20-22 and all organizations must be present or will be excluded from the yearbook. 6. Miss Wolfe announced that Naturalists will sponsor a lecture by Dr. Erickson tomorrow night in Smith 140 at 7:00 p.m. 7. Mr. Singman announced that Mr. Byrnes will speak tomorrow night at 7:00 p.m. in St. 113 on the new constitution. NEW BUSINESS: 1. Mr. Johnson moved that a standing committee for the purpose of student organization assistance be formed immediately along the following guide lines: a. Said committee shall consist of five members, one of which shall be the Parliamentarian, another shall be the Director of Student Activities and the remaining three shall be appointed by the SGA president in the first month of the academic year.
