I was never told that this was temporary and for one year only or I would have never accepted the position. I have nothing in writing, I did not realize that was necessary. However, Beth Vanfossen is aware of this agreement as she was in charge of my hire. I have received money for only one year. Sarah Coulter received the budget the previous year. I think it very unreasonable to expect that I would raise grant money in the first year of my appointment which was half time the first semester. And in any event I do not see how the Center can function without a budget even if there is grant money. This all seems very unethical to me, to entice someone to join Towson by telling them of the wonderful $25,000 budget they will have which includes $5,000 for travel. These were then Dean Jones exact words to me. I believed him. I have sent you a five year plan. Without any budgetary support I do not see how I will be able to pursue it. I do hope that this matter can be resolved. Let me know what I can do to facillitate matters.
