Both groups are eager and willing to resume the search next Fall, I you two agree. In light of Elaine’s pending retirement, however, you may want — or need to — rethink staffing priorities for next Fall. If Annette needs a person to relace Elaine the following year, and we cannot reasonably expect to get that position and the joing position in the same year, you may then want to go after Elaine’s replacement next Fall, and delay the joint position to the following Fall. I told Elaine, informally and off-the-record, that I thought SCED would understand and support the shift in priorities, if it becomes necessary. To say the obvious, however, that decision is yours; the purpose of this message is only to say that I recognize that the staffing picture — especially for WMST — has changed since the joint position was proposed over a year ago. SCED is still very much interested in the joint position, whether we go with it next Fall or sometime in the future. ’nuf said. Jim В
