Elaine is frantic. I have composed a letter to TL (not taking them to task, which never does any good, but just presenting the positive news). However, Elaine is also concerned that "other people out there" in the grownup press and the public will also misinterpret and think we are abolishing WMST. Is there any way we can put out some positive press releases, maybe linking the 20th anniversary of WMST and the recent shift from a concentration to a major in WMST? (I know that often "Good news is no news," but is it worth a try in this case?) I will forward you a copy of my letter to TL. Thanks for whatever you can do. In fact, the Women’s Studies Program is celebrating both its 20th anniversary on our campus and its elevation to the status of a MAJOR. Yes, effective in September 1993, Women’s Studies will offer a major, rather than a concentration (and will continue to offer a minor).
