Ehrlich, Jr. CORRECTIONS DAY HELPS SMALL BUSINESS A while back I told you about “Corrections Day,” a new procedure adopted by the U. S. House of Representatives intended to ease the regulatory burden on small business. Corrections Day is reserved for repealing outmoded laws and regulations. Some made sense when they were originally enacted, but now impose costly, unworkable, and unnecessary burdens on the backs of small business. Twice a month these non-controversial measures are brought to the House floor for expedited consideration. During my campaign for Congress I met with small business owners and shopkeepers across the Second Congressional District. I pledged to make their concerns my top legislative priority. My position on the bipartisan Speaker’s Special Advisory Committee on Corrections has helped to make this possible. My colleagues on the panel and I are responsible for identifying those blatantly nonsensical regulations which qualify for consideration under the Corrections Day calendar. To date, our efforts have been remarkably successful. The House has had five Corrections Days so far this year. Nine corrections bills have been passed— most with broad bipartisan support.
