December 5, 1965 SGA Executive Committee meeting minutes

STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MINUTES DECEMBER 5, 1965 The meeting was called to order by President Neal Brooks in the Student Government Association office at 1:30 P.M. ANNOUNCEMENTS: 1. Mr. Brooks announced that the office is much cleaner. He also requested that the office be kept locked whenever no one is in it. Money has been taken from the pin box. OLD BUSINESS: 1. C.C. Game-Miss Austin announced that teh TSC pins will be sold at the Civic Center during the basketball game on December 16. 2. Drinking-Mr. Brooks reported that accourding to Dean Murphy, there is no state law prohibiting alcohol at school functions. However, there is to be no liquor on a dance floor. 3. Xmas mail-Mr. Brooks announced that any mail that is addressed and in numerical order will be delived through the Post Office. Miss Walker reported that teh House Councils will deliver mail between the dorms. NEW BUSINESS 1. Outside speakers-Mr. Brooks read a statement from the state legislature requesting the college to consider previous record and background before inviting anyone to speak on the campus. He also announced that no student may take part in any demonstration in the name of the student body without the permission of the Student Senate or in the name of the college without the permission of the President of the College. After much discussion two resolutions were drafted which will be presented to the Senate. The resolutions read as follows: a. That SGA in reaffirming the rights of the invididual as stated in the United States Constitution, advocates a policy if free expression by any individual regardless of race, creed, color, religion, or political affiliation, past or present. b. That the SGA adoptes the policy that any student can participate in the community as his conscience dictates but cannot act for the student body unless empowered by the Senate or in the name of Towson State College unless empowered by the President of the College. 2. Course Evaluation-The first meeting of the committee on course evaluation will be Thursday at 7:30. 3. Publicity-Mr. Peloquin reported that he is looking into the possibility of posting a sign on York Road. He further reported that Thom Scullen is checking about the sign for the campus. 4. C.C. Game-Mr. Wilson reported that each student will be allowed 2 tickets for the basketball game. 5. NYC Convention-Mr. Brooks asked for those members of the
