- Description
- Photograph of the Charging or Circulation desk at the main entrance to the original Albert S. Cook Library. The two staff members to the left are identified as Merle Yoder and Ellen Smith. Albert S. Cook was the Superintendent of Schools (1920-1942) when the Maryland State Normal School became the Maryland State Teachers College. The original library building (now the Media Center) was named after him on September 19, 1957. A new library was built in 1968. Yoder was a member of the Class of 1924 and went on to become a Library Assistant from 1925 until 1936, when she took over as head of Circulation, a position she held until 1969.
