POSITION PAPER: BLACK STUDENT UNION OF TOWSON STATE COLLEGE ...we fell under the leadership of those who would compromise with the truth in the past in order to make peace in the present and guide policy in the future. V.F. P. DuBois, Black Reconstruction Purpose: The name of B.S.U. (Black Student Union) has been designated as the name of the group. Vie believe this a significant .and relevant name in that, it speaks directly to what we are attempting to do: unite the Black community at Towson State in an organization that transcends any false divisions. Body: The organization consists of all Black students on campus. It is exclusively Black because of the mutual needs of the Black students. This organization is solely for the benefit and interest of the entire Black community of Towson State College, irrespective of affiliations or commitments. We students have banded together in a mutual effort to enhance the social , cultural, and intellectual experience which we feel is essential to our well-being and continuance here in the bowls of racist Towson State College. Program: Upon an analysis of the situation existing here at Tovson State, it has become apparent that we as Black students should be dealing with three critical areas: survival, respect, and unity. Being aware of the precarious situation that Black students face at Towson State, we find it necessary to formulate a pra gmatic, cohesive, and feasible program to service the total Black community at. Towson State. Ш ruction: be realize our position mf distinct minority of the pcprlation. We recognize the fact that we have, common experiences, goals, and desires. Ue find it necessary to involve ourselves with the kind of base we should be v or king t * build in the Black community and the utility of our education as Black fclks.
