April 18, 1967 SGA Executive Committee meeting minutes

TOWSON STATE COLLEGE STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MINUTES APRIL 18, 1967 The meeting was called to order by President Alan Diem at 3:35 p.m. in the SGA Office. Mr. Diem welcomed the new officers and asked that old officers re- view their work with the new officers. Mr. Diem announced that he has set up for next year three new committees. They are--(1) Curriculum Committee composed of three people on the faculty com- mittee plus three more who are not on the faculty curriculum committee. Mr. Cullison will assign people to this committee. (2) Academic Standards Committee. There will be five members on this committee assigned by Mr. Cullison. (3) Agenda Priority Committee. This committee will set up priorities for the Senate agenda. Mr. Diem announced that there will be a conference during the weekend of April 29 at the University of Maryland. This is a conference of student govern- ments. Carl Herbert, Pat Cox and Jack Wilson will go to the conference. Leadership Conference--October 13 and 14 (we also have the option on the 15th). Mr. Cullison will work out the details of the conference probably during the summer. Faculty Evaluation--Letters have been sent to all department chairmen con- cerning this evaluation. Questionnairs will be given out before final exams. Mr. Diem will do the analysis of these evaluations during the summer. In order to assure validity, we will take a sample of 20 percent of the evaluations re- turned from each class. Mr. Diem will conduct this evaluation through the mail if the department chairmen are not favorable in their opinions. This will mean that less than the entire student body will be sampled. NSA Insurance--Voluntary medical and life insurance policy for students is offered by NSA for $20 per year. Miss Walker will explain this at the next senate meeting. Miss Long is to send letters to all organizations, if she has not already done so, to say that all new officers must be elected before May 2 and all new Senators should be in Senate on May 2. Class officers will be excluded from this. Next week at Senate Mr. Diem will try to take care of most of the old business. May 2 will be the change-over Senate. Publicity-- Miss Herminau received a note from Dean Murphy regarding outdoor publicity. Dean Murphy feels that we should check with Mr. Herring concerning the holes which are put in the ground. Mr. Diem said he will talk to Dr. Hawkings about this. Also, Miss Herminau asked if there was anything that could be done to penalise people who disregard the publicity regulations. Mr. Diem said that the only thing which could be done was to take the publicity down and dispose of it. Miss Georgulas announced that there is a problem with student loans. Last year loans went out for all summer but there was difficulty in getting some of these loans repaid. The Registrar's office is cooperating in withholding grades,
