sga NEWS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE FROM: Towson State Student Government SUBJECT: Mandel Appointment FOR FURTHER INFORMATION: contact Steven Schaffer Public Relations Director Student Government 823-0103 Governor Marvin Mandel recently appointed David Howard Nevins, President of the Student Government Association at Towson State College, to fill the first vacancy of the newly created student position on the State College Board of Trustees. The Board of Trustees is the overall governing body of Bowie, Coppin, Frostburg, Salisbury and Towson State Colleges, as well as the University of Baltimore. The Board determines all major policies and budgeting concerns affecting the State Colleges. After attending his first meeting on July 10, 1975, Nevins said, "members of the Board apparently seemed receptive to having a student on the Board and believe, as I do, that a new dimension will be added to the Board's decision making process." \ Nevins continued, stating that, "the Board, as the governing body of the State College System, must protect and further the interests of the State Colleges and ultimately, the students at the State Colleges. To do that, I am hoping that I can give to the Board, student viewpoints on issues and help make public those viewpoints so that in the end the State will respond more favorably to the State Colleges and give the System the funding and attention it deserves to have."
