GaTe the college community a day away from the college such as it was ... we enjoyed the whole tripo The park was nice and big enough to accommodate the whole group ... As this was my first experience I have nothing with which to compare but I did enjoy the boat ride. the picnic area and general corps dv espri ... Tradition. Satisfied needs of students and faculty association ... compatible staff contacts o Interesting and pleasant tripo General facilities ... Weather! ... General idea of the boat trip and picnic were fine. Student faculty volley ball game one of high points. Dancing especially enjoyed by the students... Good weather ... Sun. water, companionship, recreation. The trip is always fatiguing but always worth the trouble... Benifits or faculty=student relationships. Builds school spirit. Low cost of outing so all students can participate. Scenic views of Potomac not usually seen ... Boat ride was pleasant and park large enough to accommodate group without being too much like a public affair. Opportunity for faculty and students to be together on an occasion not academic in nature. My family and I looked forward to the trip and we were not disappointed... River trip good except for crowded conditions which broke us up as a unit. Good opportunity for faculty families to meet the students ... Enables students to see faculty members as ordinary people... Trip was very enjoyable ... Seemed to be plenty ef space on the boat in spite of other passengers. Marshall Hall as pleasant a place to relax as Tolchester... Boat ride was enjoyable. Plenty of picnic space at park... Participation in different sport activitieso Question Number 2 = What were the weak features? Bus trip to Washington and back too long. Day was too long. Bus~es too crowded. Boat too crowded, few seats available on return trip. Entire project not carefully plannedo Should have been in hands of a mature person with students .assisting. Too many "guests" . Don't think an amusement park is the place for a college outing... Confusion over boat reservations ... We need a place to and for ourselves... Little student contacts. Fatiguing (partly due to grading exams all night and handling three children) Prefer swimming facilities and a place to rest... Trip too long and tiring for most. Swimming problem unfortunate. Ride to Washington on a bus frightened many faculty away, especially those with small children0 I enjoyed the "last will and testament" type of entertainment but I find it hard to enjoy some of the jabs given faculty and administratorso I always enjoy a good, humorous take-off on one of US9 but the pointed comments judging the ability of a professor. etc. seem a bit out of line since most of these comments represent the feelings of but one or two studentso Some of these comments were being solicited on the boat going back in a "do you have any one you would like to rap" manner... Subway-like tactics of students in boarding busses and boato Difficulty or obtaining seats on boat... The long drive to Washing ton discouraged many faculty. The only other weak feature was the typical and apparently iMrltable bungling in organization ... None ... It would have been better if there had not been so many parties on the boat. It would have meant more to everyone if there had been some organization of activities at the park. If a group of tables had been reserved for the students and faculty so we would have all been together, we would have
