1959 All College Day faculty letter and transportation form

ALL COLLEGE DAY Members of the Faculty: May 29, 1959 This note is to urge you to make every effort to participate in the boat trip next Wednesday to Tolchester. I hope that none of you will feel that because of the pressure of examination papers that you cannot afford to take the time. The "deadline" for grades is being extended 24 hours to permit faculty members to make the trip. All-College Day is planned as a time when the whole college community can get together for an informal outing. Its success is measured to a large extent by the extent to which everyone (faculty and students) participate. Members if faculty and staff as well as their families are welcome without charge. The SGA takes care of all the expenses except lunch. Last year we were not able to get the boat. The company hopes to continue the policy of making the boat available this early in the season but it could well be that any year might be the "last." This opportunity for a cruise on the bay is one that very few localities in the county still offer. The availability of the boat provides an unusual opportunity for a large group to engage in an outing together. Wear sport clothes, bring bathing suits. Buses leave Newell Hall 8:15 a.m. Person wishing to go y bus are asked to fill in the appended slip and return it to Mrs. Leedy in the Main Office by Monday June 1. For those who would rather drive downtown, the boat leaves the pier at the corner of Light and Pratt Streets at 9:30 a.m. Unless you definitely get seasick or are afraid of the water or are allergic to your colleagues and fellow students, I hope that nothing will prevent you from joining in with us next Wednesday.
