NERBONNE and DAVE STRUM The main campus will see con-siderable change before the spring of 1968. To make way for the new library addition, the Wiedefeld Gymnasium will be demolished over the Christ-mas vacation. Three temporary buildings will be relocated in front of Van Bakkelen Hall to. make room for the new struc-ture, one temporary to be con-verted into a student lounge, another into a snack bar. Li-bra/ 7 construction, however, is dependent upon the completion iof the new classroom building tand gym. Until these are com-pleted, the old gym cannot be demolished due to the presence of faculty offices and locker rooms. The addition to the Al-bert S. Cook Library is expect-ed to be completed by the end of 1969 at a cost of $3.1 million. Still another existing struc-ture is scheduled for renova-tion. Stephens Hall, the main pampus building, will undergo change to a classroom building once ,a new $2 million adminis-tration building is completed. Under consideration for this building is a 70,000 square foot area of Osler Drive. Work on the Stephens Hall project will begin in late 1968 and be coin pleted by the summer of ""70. The field between Stephens Hall and the Blue Cross Build-ing will be a 159-car parking lot 'within three months. Plans for construction ef a 1,000 car multi-story structure are under- Way. A lot behind Ogler Drive will be completed over the sum-tiler in time for classes next fall. Ready for January After completion, supplemen-tal construction on Linthicum Hall, the new classroom build-ing, will see an additional two floors and basement added at a cost of $85,000. This work is slated for July, 1968 with late 1969 being mentioned as com-pletion date. The present Lin-thicum Hall and the new gym will be ready for classes in Jan-uary. December 8, 1967 Contest Nets $4,000 For Santa Marathon Charity Seventy-four hours and 1,013 tallies later, Towson State emerged as the victor in the Second Annual Marathon Foot-ball Game. The '67 Santa Tilt was staged at Parkville's Double Rock Park through rain, fog, and cold, Conditions similar to those of the ;first marathon in 1966 Where TSC captured the win by a 944-580 margin. Loyola's twelve squads were only able to muster 730 points in contrast with T'SC's four-fi-gure score. In the early a.m. Saturday, the Greyhounds came within 4 points of the Tigers but throughout Sunday and Monday competition, the TSC margin widened. Santa Claus Anonymous, re-cipients of proceeds from pro-gram sales, food, and advertis-ing, is $10,000 richer according TSC Executive 'Committee member Chip Reed. The game itself was kicked off with ceremonies at 10:45 a.m. Friday, December 1. John Knott, President, of the Mara-thon Association was introduc-ed along with Charles Hubbard and J. Parker Watson of the Cosmopolitan Club of Balti-more who underwrote the Mara-thon expenses. The President of Santa Claus Anonymous, Ea- Monn McGeady, expressed his gratitude to all participating studenta in this ""demonstra-tion."" John Snyder of the National Beer Company ""let the barrel Ispeak for itself"" as he unveiled the trophy-beer keg his com-pany would donate to the win-ner. The National Beer Com-pany supplied jersies worn by Loyola and TSC squads during the 74-hour grid contest. Not to be outdone, Baltimore ��� � City Comptroller Hyman Press-man recited and read portions of a poem he had composed for the occasion of the Marathon op-ening. Gil Rosenthal, President of the Jaycees, made the first $20 donation and Santa himself officiated in the coin-flip after which TSC and Loyola All *Stars took the field for the kick-off. Play was halted briefly while a plow removed several inches of snow and cameramen took advantage of unusual conditions to snap pictures which appeared during the week-end in area pa-pers publicizing the events. Not to be outdone, TSC girls took to the turf on Saturday at noon as the first quarter was called. A powder-puff match against Villa Julie College found 'Tigerettes swamping the oppo-sition by a 14-0 margin. Around 40 TSC co-eds contributed to the effort as Mary Ann Garrett and Joyce Cummings scored the deciding touchdowns. Mud and fog greeted Satur-day night and Sunday morning teams and by Monday morning temperatures hung around the freezing mark. At closing cere-monies Monday afternoon, TSC was officially proclaimed victor and awarded the prize. One player expressed it best as Monday morning classes put h damper on the Marathon spir-it: ""You gotta be crazy to do this!""
