After years of driving to cam-pus, the one thing she's learned is that parking is always difficult towards the beginning of each semester due to class atten-dance. ""I think parking is always at it's worst in the beginning of the semester,"" Crumbacker said. ""Primarily because there tends to be a lot more students on campus at one time than later in the semester when people have dropped or stopped attending classes as frequently."" But this week, that hasn't been the case, as parking on campus has been better than usual. Joe Oster, associate vice presi-dent of Auxiliary Services, said the time of day plays an impor-tant part in how easily a com-muter can find an empty spot. He added that parking hasn't been that much of a problem for most students this semester so far. ""We took a drive around cam-pus around 11 a.m. which are the peak times for parking, both garages were full,"" he said, ""Yet, Lot 19 was empty, Lot 20 was 25 percent occupied, and Lot 21 was about 35 percent occupied."" Oster said finding empty spots for parking around cam-pus has gone pretty well. He added that this semester has been one of the smoothest open-ings for a semester in quite a while. See story, page 3. way, with the University preparing to build a parking garage behind the 7800 York Road building. But for now, stu-dents like Crumbacker will shave to rely on older methods to find open spaces. ""I have been able to get a spot in the garage,"" she said. ""But only through the strategic stalk-ing of unsuspecting students getting ready to leave the garage."" Sophomore Jessica Shevken has taken the same approach as Crumbacker in finding a good parking space. However, waiting for a stu-dent to come into the garage to follow them to their parking space can be very time consum-ing. ""I was late to class today because I couldn't find a spot,"" said Shevken, a mass communi-cation major. ""I had to wait out-side the parking garage to take a student to their car so I could get a parking space.""
