Perkins won't assume University President Dr. Hoke L. Smith's office until two months from tomorrow, his presence is already heavily felt on campus among administra-tors and faculty. ""I think whenever someone new comes in people are con-cerned they're going to clean house,"" said a Towson official, who wished to remain anony-mous. ""He's the new coach. He may bring on his own team."" Perkins, currently serving as Chancellor of University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, declined to comment directly on the mat-ter of firing personal, but said he'll have to wait and see how he interacts with Towson's administrators before any deci-sions are made. Edwards said the four depart-ing schools Delaware, Drexel, Hofstra and Towson will now be able to avoid a season filled with bad feelings, such as those that surfaced during the America East men's basketball tournament, when a handful of coaches expressed displeasure about traveling to Delaware to showcase a future.CAA facility.
