DIRECTOR OF COMMUNICATIONS (appointed):
Provides for publicity, public relations,
and advertising for all SGA on-campus events,
conducts annual advertising and public relations
seminar for SGA organizations, heads the ' 'Finals
Week Survival Kit" for both fall and spring
semesters, and carries out any other duties imposed
by the President.
DIRECTOR OF ORGANIZATIONAL ADV
AN CEMENT (appointed) : Provides help for
new groups in writing their constitutions and advising
during the affiliation process, works with
groups during probationary period, sponsors
workshops on leadership skills, and helps groups
plan fundraisers.
DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC RELATIONS (appointed):
Develops a yearly brochure about the
SGA and any other promotional ideas that the
President feels are necessary, and helps SGA affiliated
organizations plan and execute their
fundraisers.
SENATE
The SGA Senate is a policy-making body serving
on three main committees: University Affairs,
Appropriations, and Government Operations.
Their primary function is to regulate the activities
of affiliated student organizations and govern the
distribution of all funds granted by the Administration.
All student organizations must be
affiliated by the Senate to be eligible to receive
SGA funds.
SGA OFFICE
In addition to a six member Executive Staff and a
fifteen member Senate, the SGA office also staffs
a full-time Business Manager, a full-time
Secretary, and a part-time Art Director.

Informed and involved students have a greater
appreciation of their school, their education, and
themselves. Maintaining an active interest in student
affairs, joining student organizations, and
participating in campus events can make the
educational experience a personally fulfilling one.
The SGA affords students the opportunity to
enrich their college years by becoming involved in
both the business of student governing and the
enjoyment of organizational involvement. SGA
representatives serve on important decisionmaking
committees, assist in planning and executing
major events, provide liaison between
student organizations and SGA Executive Offi"cers
and serve on University committees such as
Academic Standards, Screening Committee,
University Senate, etc.
In addition, Towerlight, Tower Echoes,
WCVT, and Grub Street Wit require student
support as regular staff members or as occasional
contributors. Other SGA affiliated groups are
always actively seeking new and enthusiastic
members.
Your SGA invites you to become a participant

mi"nimum of 12 credits this semester, you are a

The SGA is designed to realize your need for a
community and its right to self-governance. It is a
policy-making organization set up to support and
regulate student act1v1t1es, organizations,
publications, and special events. But it is more
than a social director of your undergraduate years;
it is a vital service to your academic environment
as well. The SGA ha~ the power to work responsively
and innovatively toward a richer educational
experience. With your voice and financial
support, the SGA works. But only through your
efforts can it fully benefit the Towson State

here is to acquaint you with how the SGA
operates and to introduce some of the upcoming
events sponsored for you .
EXECUTIVE STAFF
The Executive Staff is the core of the SGA. It
assists students in formulating and operating
representative government, interest groups, publications,
campus events, and various programs. A
network of officers work together to coordinate a
variety of responsibilities. They help students
fulfilled those privileges of self-government.
PRESIDENT (elected): Administrates Executive
and Legislative Programs and Policies, appoints
administrative officers and directs the SGA Staff,
nominates students for membership on University
committees, coordinates overall planning, and
conducts relations with the University Administration.
VICE PRESIDENT (elected): Presides over SGA
Senate and directs its administration, chairs the
Speaker Series Committee, carries out other
duties imposed by the President or the Senate,
and succeeds to the Presidency in cases of vacancy
in that office.
TREASURER (elected): Administers SGA Financial
Policies , oversees spending by SG A affiliated
organizations and regulates same, maintains SGA
