I certainly appreciate the time and attention of The Frederick News-Post and applaud the paper’s interest in statewide politics. My visit to Frederick last week was an opportunity for me to renew some longstanding friendships. Frederick County is a terrific community and you are fortunate to live there. Your recent article about my future deserves one important clarification. While I consistently vote to support a woman’s right to choose to have an abortion, I have supported proposals to ban so-called partial birth abortions. I clearly distinguish between preserving a woman’s personal choice and a medical procedure aimed at stopping a late term pregnancy. I look forward to returning to Frederick very soon.
