For your information, I have enclosed three of my most recent position letters concerning state budget cuts, taxes, and the University of Maryland. Although we do not seem to agree on anything, I thought you should at least have some of my thoughts and observations regarding these important issues. Parenthetically, I hope you will take a more open approach to free market economics in your studies at the U of M; it is market oriented ideas that represent true "vision" for the future as opposed to the old refrain of "tax and spend" you seem to endorse. You might also wish to reexamine your definitions of "equity" and "justice" during a time when people around the world have rejected egalitarianism in favor of capitalism and "trickle down economics" (which helped produce a pretty strong expansion in the 1980s before President Bush acquiesced to the wishes of the big spenders and "revenue enhancers" in Congress during the 1991 budget compromise) .
