STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION Towson State University Towson, Maryland 21204 (301) 321-2711 MINUTES STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION February 5, 1985 The Student Government Association Senate meeting was called to order at 4:00. Senator Hyatt roved to excuse Senator Brown for being late-seconded. Senator BrCMn was excused. Senator Kushner moved to excuse Senators Goldsmith, Oppenheimer and Walsh for being late and Senator Sebula for being absent-seconded. They were excused. Senator Dinkin moved to accept the minutes from the previous session-seconded. The minutes were accepted. Communications President DiPaula read a thank-you note from Eileen O'Shea. The University Senate met on Monday, February 4. President DiPaula gave a report on the University Senate. The SGA manual is in the process of being revised. There will be a Leadership Con£erence on Saturday, February 23, 1985, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the University Union. There will be a luncheon on February 23 featuring keynote speaker Stephen Sachs. The SGA is sponsoring a trip to the Lyric to see "The Grind" featuring Ben Vereen on February 28. Tickets are $10.00. The SGA is also sponsoring a trip to the Baltimore Aquarium on March 8. The price is $1.00. Alan Dershowitz will be speaking on campus on March 3, 1985, in the Chesapeake rooms at 7:30. Tickets are $2.00 for students. The Buckley/McGovern debate is scheduled for April 3, 1985, in the Chesapeake rooms at 7:30. Tickets are $2.00 for students. The prom is scheduled for Friday, May 3 at M:rrtins Eastwind. President DiPaula is working on the inauguration ceremony for the incoming executives and senators. President DiPaula needs help with the "take a professor to lunch program." Organizational mandatory meetings are scheduled for February 11 and 12 from 3-4 in room 314 of the University Union. The organizational expo is sch duled for February 18 and 19 from 10-3 in the University Union. The Alumni Association is trying to start an Alumni Chapter. The University Union is sponsoring a trip to Atlantic City on February 15. The cost is $25.00. Treasurer Cohn needs ushers for Sunday, March 3. Organizational reports are due by the end of this month. Committee meeting minutes must be turned into Treasurer Cohn. Assistant Director of Corrmunications Stacy Gelfand needs help distributing SGA events calendars. The movie for this week is "Tightrope."
