February 27, 1968 SGA Senate meeting minutes

TOWSON STATE COLLEGE STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION SENATE MINUTES - FEBRUARY 27, 1968 The meeting was called to order by Chairman Pro Tem Mr. Ratliff at 3:30 p.m. in Linthicum 200. ANNOUNCEMENTS: 1. Miss Cox introduced Sharon Barker, WUS Representative who spoke to the body on the need for WUS and the services it presents. 2. Miss Miskelly announced that we have enough signatures for a constitutional convention at the next Senate meeting. She also announced that since the convention is open to the enture student body, we will need a large meeting room. Everyone can vote at the constitutional convention who has paid an activity fee. Miss Miskelly especially thanked Mr. Steele for the work he has done getting signatures. 3. Miss Miskelly announced that the SDS constitution will be posted on the SGA door and its acceptance will be moved at the next Senate meeting. 4. Miss Vieser announced for Mr. Barkley that ledgers have to be in tomorrow at the latest. Ledgers that have been turned in can be picked up Thursday. There will be Financial Committee meetings at 3:15 p.m. before each Senate meeting. 5. Mr. Maguire announced that his club, the Social Political Forum, has empowered him to turn in all SGA funds except for $5. 6. The minutes were read and approved as read and amended by Mr. Gordon. OLD BUSINESS: 1. Miss Miskelly moved that Senate accept the constitution of the Karate Club. The motion was seconded. Mr. Gordon moved to table the motion until the next meeting. The motion to table was seconded and passed. 2. Mr. Goodell moved that the student Senate of Towson State College resolve that the proposed constitution of Maryland should be adopted by the voters on May 14. The motion was seconded and passed. NEW BUSINESS: 1. Miss Miskelly moved that Senate accept the changes in the YAF Constitution. The motion was seconded and passed unanimously. 2. Mr. Steele moved that the Senate resolve its support for the immediate provision of a shuttlebus to be run to and from the Osler Drive parking lot. The funds and driver for the operation are to be provided by the administration. Co-ordinating and planning to be taken care of by the SGA Senate. The motion was seconded and passed. 3. Miss Pryor moved that Senate allocate $90 to the Judo Club. The motion was seconded and passed. 4. Mr. Johnson moved that as of March 1, the Concert Choir, Men's Choral Association and the Women's Glee Club be suspended fromt he SGA until such time as the financial policy is changed or the funds they received are reverted back to the SGA. The motion was seconded. Miss Miskelly yielded the floor with no objections to the president of the Men;s Choral Association, Mr. Glen Miller. Miss Miskelly moved to amend the motion to read "that as of the next SGA fiscal period the funds of the Concert Choir, the Men's Choral Association and the Women's Glee Club funds
